Vincent Lamar Carter was born on January 26, 1977 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He went to Mainland High School. He played the saxophone, was a drum major in his high school's band,and was on the school basketball team.
Vince decided to attend North Carolina. In 1998 he left school early and entered the NBA Draft. He was selected 5th overall by the Golden State Warriors and was immediately traded to the Toronto Raptors.
